We at O&M Electrica Matamoros S.A. are committed to continually preventing and reducing negative environmental impacts, and to maintaining and improving the positive impacts that our work can produce. We have established objectives and goals based on the following commitments:

We reduce and prevent pollution by collecting and disposing of solid and liquid waste in the most environmentally safe way possible, according to the companies’ technological and financial means. We also control the work being done and the use of supplies to ensure that our practices are environmentally friendly and safe for our workers’ health. Finally, we guarantee that the quality of water used for generating electricity remains the same throughout all stages of the process.
We protect species that live in the mountain regions and rivers involved in our processes. We maintain the vegetation necessary to cover land that is susceptible to landslides and/or erosion. We reforest and promote the restoration of natural areas that cannot be used in the process of generating energy, in accordance with the land’s biological characteristics and the companies’ economic means.
We are committed to respecting and complying with: pertinent laws related to the protection and improvement of the environment; the relevant requirements established by the company in relation to the environment, and the health of our employees and the community; and the recommendations of government agencies that address environmental issues and health.
We educate our employees and the community about environmental issues; we encourage others to follow our example.
We are continually improving our environmental policies and, when possible, we hope that preventative action prevails over corrective action.

We prevent and reduce occupational incidents and accidents by establishing detection procedures and minimizing risk, within timeframes established according to the importance of the unsafe actions and conditions. Furthermore, in accordance with the technological and financial means of companies, we improve areas that, according to past studies, are considered unsafe to some degree.
We are committed to respecting and complying with pertinent legal requirements related to occupational safety and health, as well as the relevant requirements established by the company in relation to safety and health, so as to guarantee our employees, contractors and visitors a safe work environment.
We educate our employees and providers about occupational safety and health, so as to create conscientiousness and to promote the adoption of safe work practices and risk control.
